Classical music and improvisation
Krista de Wit (née Pyykönen) is a classically trained violinist educated to master the traditional violin, chamber music and orchestra repertoire. Besides classical music Krista is performing free-tonal and tonal as well as person-centred improvisation with varying ensembles mostly in healthcare contexts. Krista has also worked with non-classical ensembles in different string sections and recorded film music and rock/pop in studio sessions. Krista is playing a 1894-built French Collin-Mezin concert violin with a beautifully balanced combination of power and wooden softness.
Krista is currently working as a member of the Foundation MiMiC Muziek which organises and provides live music projects for vulnerable hospitalised people and medical professionals in the Netherlands.

Background
Krista (born 1986), started her violin studies in Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki, Finland in 1992. She studied at Espoo Music Institute until 2006, after which she started her professional studies at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki. While studying classical music education in Metropolia, she studied the violin and violin pedagogic with lecturer Seppo Reinikainen, worked actively as a chamber musician in string ensembles and as an orchestra musician.
Academic studies
Krista graduated from Metropolia in December 2010 as a classical music educator and violinist. After that she started her Music Master studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH). She became KMH’s first student in the international NAIP Europen Master of Music-program. In Stockholm, mentored by Jan Risberg, Krista has studied cultural entrepreneurship and marketing, improvisation and creative workshop leading. Now Krista is working towards becoming a "holistic musician" by not limiting her musicianship to one genre, instrument or style.
International experience
Krista has taken private violin studies in Figeac, France with violinist Olivier Pons and participated in the “Les Rencontres Musicales de Figeac” chamber music festivals in 2008-2010. Krista has also participated NAIP European Master of Music- courses in the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, on the island of Schiermonnikoog in Northern Holland and in Isafjordur, Iceland. Krista participated in the European Improvisation Project in The Hague in January 2010, where she studied tonal and atonal improvisation under the supervision of Augusti Fernandez, Anto Pett and David Dolan among others. Krista finished her soloist violin studies with Cecilia Zilliacus in 2013. Krista is an experienced performer and available for solo and ensemble concerts, background music or even interactive improvisation performances.
